Already the location in Puntagorda, district 'Relva Larga' is very popular with bad weather plagued mainland Europeans: A gentle hill with a wide view over the lowland below Puntagorda, the Atlantic and the local mountain 'Mato' makes the heart of peace and nature lovers beat faster. No civilization noises disturb the pure view of the sunset over the wideness of the sea, almost no other buildings are visible, one imagines oneself alone in the midst of unencumbered nature and nevertheless the few neighbours are not too far away, so that one can always give oneself a helping hand - if one wants. Our culture to leave everyone in peace, who would like this, is lived here very intensively.
You can enjoy the most beautiful view from the pool terrace: An extensive area with a generous wooden deck around the approx. 10 x 3 meter heated pool, which offers a wonderful ambience both for quiet enjoyment and for larger open-air celebrations, everything you could wish for: With its length and the additional counter current system, the pool also allows sporty people to swim long lanes, the automatic roll cover was invisibly mounted and closes the water surface against cooling and pollution when the pool is not used. The location is completely protected from prying eyes and offers absolute privacy. A private, artistically designed pool house is the ideal place to stay after the bath or for a sundowner with friends. Heating is provided by a solar system, supplemented by an air-water heat pump.
Above is the main house, which with its unique design not only fits in well with the landscape, but also leaves nothing to be desired in terms of space and allows the flowing transition into the subtropical park area. You enter an entrance area that was designed as a classic northern European windbreak, even if this is only rarely necessary due to our climate and the orientation of the finca. The entrance area is connected to the kitchen with dining area, whose dining table at the window to the sea offers a cosy place for extensive dinners with up to five persons. The kitchen area was made to measure by a German carpenter and designed so discreetly that it does not detract from the antique solid wood furniture. The worktops and rear wall are made of black granite, the stove consists of a combination of gas flames and a ceramic hob, so that ease of care is ideally combined with our classic cooking habits. Of course, an oven, a fridge-freezer and a dishwasher are part of the equipment.
Via a wood-glass wing door you reach the spacious saloon, which with a very large, electrically shaded skylight represents a very successful combination of classic Canarian architecture, with individual walm exposed wooden roof trusses and light-flooded rooms and at night provides a view of our legendary clear starry sky. The entire west façade has been glazed with elaborate, double-glazed rotary sliding elements at floor level, so that you can completely open them depending on your mood, desire and weather and enjoy a flowing transition to the very large main terrace or the fantastic view of palm trees and the sea through the glass elements. A round brick fireplace with glass insert provides a cosy atmosphere on cooler days. Through a wide transition, set off with frosted glass sliding elements, you reach the rear part of the salon, whose roof surface has also been completely glazed and thus already lets in the first sunbeams of the rising sun. From here you reach the TV room, an ideal retreat, which exceptionally does not allow direct sunlight into the room and thus guarantees unadulterated TV enjoyment.
The master bedroom is connected to one side and also has a glass wing door from the bed which gives you an unobstructed view of the sea. An east window lets in the first rays of sunshine, if desired. The floor has been covered with solid wood planks, so that it also provides a pleasant living climate barefoot. On the other side you enter the luxurious bathroom, flooded with light, with a white saddle roof and electrically opening gable windows, it has been furnished with fine bathroom furniture of Morera hardwood and black granite and has a bathtub, a rainforest shower and large mirror surfaces. The floor is also made of sealed solid wood planks - here you can have a good time.
A guest bedroom rounds off the space offered by the main house, it also has sea views and a cosy exposed wooden roof truss.
The whole house was furnished with very high-quality, antique solid wood furniture of the years 1850-1860 from Shanghai very tastefully, the furniture and the equipment are included in the purchase price.
The approx. 120 m² main terrace facing west can be accessed directly from most rooms and is completely paved (as are all garden paths) with bricks. It offers views of the Atlantic Ocean and is partially shaded by large palm trees. At its southern end there is a Jacuzzi, naturally heated, equipped with massage jets and of course secluded but with a magnificent sea view and view of the fantastic starry sky over La Palma.
A separate studio is the ideal retreat for those who still need to work or as a separate guest bedroom. There is also a garden tool shed and a water tank for watering the garden, as well as various technical rooms.
The entire property was restructured about twenty years ago with new terrace walls of hand-hewn blue basalt, all garden paths and stairs newly laid out and paved with bricks. Paths and stairs are continuously illuminated with recessed LED lights and high-quality spotlights, outstanding plants are individually illuminated. Tropical and subtropical plant species have been selected so that there is always some flowering throughout the year. A large number of palm trees, dragon trees, frangipani, mimosa and oleander have already grown to impressive sizes and offer pleasantly shady areas. Generous lawns provide fresh greenery at any time of year and special tactile experiences.
The renovation and extension of the buildings was carried out in German craftsmanship quality, whereby great importance was attached to authentic design. The roofs were covered and insulated with original, antique Canarian monk-nun-roof tiles. In the whole house a warm water central heating is installed, which is solar operated and if necessary supported by gas. However, due to the well insulated construction and the intelligently arranged glass surfaces, only little heating is necessary.
The property is accessed via two access roads and there are sufficient parking spaces available.
The Finca is of course connected to the public electricity, telephone, internet and drinking water network, a SAT TV system is installed, private share water is available for the garden irrigation.

Town water

Town water is the only official table water on the island. It is treated by the municipalities in accordance with the EU Drinking water ordinance, chlorinated to variable degrees depending on the weather and supplied with pressure by a water meter. The accounting takes place according to usage, it costs (depending of the municipality) approx. 4 €/month, basic fee including the first 15 m³, which is sufficient for a 2-3 person household. It is not allowed to use municipal water for extensive garden irrigation, consumption should not exceed 150 litres per person per day. For bulk consumers there are graduated prices: The higher the consumption, the more expensive the price is per m³. It is (above the included 15 m³ per month) from 0,50 € to 2,0 € per cubic meter.
✖

SAT-TV

The property is equipped with a television satellite reception system. So you can receive about 900 European television channels via Astra, of course also ARD and ZDF (even legally free of charge!) and all German private channels, most of them also in HD.
✖

Cistern

A cistern is a water tank, in which the so-called share water is usually collected here. Because this water arrives at the finca pressureless with a certain quantity per minute, one collects in winter (if less water is needed for the garden irrigation) the surplus water in this tank, so that one has a supply in summer, if more is needed. On some fincas the rainwater is also stored in it.
✖

Public electric grid

This finca is connected to the public electricity grid, which is not always self-evident in La Palma. Some properties also produce their own electricity, using alternative techniques and store it in batteries. Since we have a lot of sunshine and in some areas a lot of wind, a very environmentally friendly way of supplying energy.
✖

Fixed line connection via radio

At this finca the telephone is connected to the fixed network via the mobile network. This means that no phone lines spoil the view and you get a normal landline phone number (starting with +34 922…). The fees are charged in the same way as for a normal landline connection.
✖

Internet connection

Meanwhile almost all estates on la Palma are connected to the Internet, the development of the net takes place with high speed. Many different technologies are currently available, so that a nationwide connection is possible. Technical solutions are:
  • Fiber optic cable - speeds up to 300 Mbit possible. The network is currently being expanded and is available e.g. in Los Llanos, in Puntagorda from January 2019...
  • Copper cable over the telephone network - speed up to 10 Mbit possible, depending on the distance to the next node
  • Radio over mobile network - available almost all over the island - speeds currently up to 10 Mbit possible
  • directional radio - possible if there is a line of sight to the next radio transmitter. Speeds up to 12 Mbit possible, at quite interesting prices
  • Satellite connection - 100% coverage of the whole island, speeds up to 22MBit possible, relatively expensive, but at least, it works in the most remote areas.
✖

Air conditioning with heating

Air conditioning is rarely used for cooling, even in midsummer our weather is rather moderate, temperatures above 30°C are the exception even in midsummer. But if in August the 'Calima', a hot desert wind from the Sahara gets lost to us, then we can also get over 35°C and after a few days one is thankful for an air conditioning. The systems operate mainly according to the construction principle of the air-air heat pump and are therefore quite energy-efficient (in cooling mode usually with an efficiency of 1:3, in heating mode of 1:4), so that electricity costs and CO2 emissions also remain within limits, especially as the systems are rarely used and the temperature differences to be compensated are not very large. In this respect, these systems are also often and gladly used for heating: Since they only have to run rarely and usually very briefly, but react quickly, an ideal heating system for most houses.
✖

Stock water

The so-called share water is used for garden irrigation. It's called this because you're not legally buying water, but a company share of one of the water cooperatives. On your 'water share' you receive the dividend in kind of water. Depending on the company, the quantities of water and the prices for these share certificates vary greatly; these shares can also be rented or rented out. A comprehensive topic on which we would be pleased to inform you.
✖
The service water for the bathroom and kitchen is generated in a particularly environmentally friendly way with a solar thermal system, i.e. usually only solar energy is used to heat the service water. Only in case of several days without sun (which is rare in our country) it may be necessary to heat the water with additional external energy (electric or bottled gas). This usually takes place automatically, the energy saving amounts to about 90% according to our experience.
