I must confess: For me it was love at first sight. Even as a profound La-Palma-connoisseur I would not have assumed to find such a magnificent property in absolute solitary location so close to the capital. This with approximately 60.000 m² very large property protects all times your privacy and magnificent views in all directions: across the Atlantic, to the tails of Santa Cruz, to the in the harbour incoming ships in the distance, across gorge, mountains and forests in the unique subtropical nature landscape of our island.
By a 600 meter long, well paved private road, private wood and fenced park you reach the heart of the Finca: a historic farmhouse that was lovingly restored, updated and expanded in about 30 years long work by the landlord. It now offers a light and sun-flooded refuge for lovers of clear design language combined with historical building structure and accomplished quotations our local architecture. The light granted a very special place on this Finca: if the sun shines undammed on the roof terrace a gently curved tent-building like Bedouin-style provides protection. Two floors below, on the southern sun terrace palm fronds filter it slender. You will reach the loggia by a stately, pretty worked natural stone staircase. About five meters high, equipped with a filigree solid wood roof truss, which is based on the classic Canarian construction without imitating them, the frosted glass transforms the room into a true temple of light. Here you will find at any time of day for the eyes uncommonly pleasant, almost shadow-free and bright light; ideal for artistic work, reading or just relaxing.
The 30 m² loggia goes almost impalpable into the also about five meters high living room; almost fully glazed to the south and the west, upwards protected by solid wood and copper provides this space even on hot days plenty of light and pleasant coolness. Axisymmetric it is structured by a very large fireplace and a chandelier with stunning light show, next door is the kitchen in a preserved original, Canarian building with classic hipped roof or, as we say here "four water-roof".
Those who want to retire to watch TV or read, passes through the kitchen into a room with fireplace, which was housed in another, classical old building with its typical Canary tea wood ceiling.
From the loggia you can also get in two of the four bedrooms, located on the ground floor and the flooring was handmade with terracotta brought from Italy that lends Mediterranean flair. The historical ceiling were carefully dismantled, reconditioned and increased reinstated so a pleasant for northern Europeans ceiling height was created without changing the character of the house.
Upstairs are two more bedrooms with floor to ceiling windows which offer magnificent views of the park and the Atlantic Ocean. The here typical, ventilated wardrobes were symmetrically placed in the central niche at the headboards of the beds; natural wood floors give the rooms their warm atmosphere.
Who wants to welcome the morning sun just after waking up without being seen finds his way through a staircase to the roof terrace.
Two daylight bathrooms with shower, a small staircase and a pantry complete the space of the main house.
A shaded by plants and with natural stone laid colonnade leads to the orangery, by a classic greenhouse of botanical gardens of the previous century empathized, approximately 50 m² large artist´s workshop, which appears perfect for artistic works and tropical plants, but certainly also would serve as an exceptional living space.
Behind the main house and beneath the orangery is a large swimming pond, which also serves as a water reservoir for the park and is fed by its own water supply day and night with fresh spring water. Here you can swim long lanes unseen and enjoy the sun.
The about 20.000 m² large, fully fenced and view protected natural park homes a species-rich habitat of up to 100 years old Canarian date palms, ecological certified grown avocados and oranges, a variety of subtropical fruit and ornamental trees, lavender and herb garden, ferns and wild herbs just as shaded seating with weatherproof, stone furnishings and is equipped with an automatic irrigation system. Further 40.000 m² forest and open land protect against uninvited neighbours.
At the southern end of the park is a ruin with a mighty Canarian pine. These can be rebuilt and offers further development potential. Also right at the main house is a ruin which stands for any extensions.
